BA (Hons) Textiles

Anna Mcgilp

Nature and the environment have provided the inspiration for this project, exploring form, detail and pattern. Flora and fauna are often the preferred subject matter for designer and consumer alike, so inventing new and exciting interpretations of them has provided me with a fascinating challenge. Drawing is a large part of my practice, as my designs originate from a mixture of this and photography, manipulated through the design process using Photoshop and Illustrator. My current collections consist of wallpaper and furnishing fabrics for an interior context alongside printed ceramic ware. My inspiration comes from the intricate, embellished work of Claire Coles and, in contrast, very classic designs for pottery, for example the Royal Albert collections.
