Reflections on ‘small memory’

My work is driven by the battle between presence and absence. Fuelled by failed attempts at preserving the fleeting, there is an acceptance that all things must erode and deteriorate.

“The photograph, like the souvenir, is the corpse of an experience. A photograph therefore speaks as death, as the trace of what passes into history”

–   Eduardo Cadava

The work is object based – By shooting directly onto 5X4 black & white positive paper, each image is completely unique and unrepeatable and many are later sealed by lead solder between two sheets of glass.
