BA (Hons) Fine Art

Matthew Thompson

My work gives an experience of the city through the eyes of the modern flaneur (urban wanderer). I explore themes of disturbance and patriotism in pieces influenced by the Paris Situationalists. The Paris Riots of 1968, and the those in Manchester in July 2011 were also a major influence. I integrate graffiti and contemporary music lyrics into paintings and banners to capture the diversity of city life.
