BA (Hons) Textiles

Rebecca Hennigan

My final year printed Textiles collection 'Beyond the Surface' incorporates a strong substance for my love of textures and surfaces. My fascination of weather objects; rust and decay have been creatively explored through to my collection of silk scarves, which are aimed at the fashion industry. I am excited and inspired by photography and translating it through to one off prints. Slow shutter speed has allowed me to capture the movement of light the same way photography has fuelled my initial drawing and design ideas. My work explores drawing through textural mark making and the use of varied techniques and medias to create abstract marks. I approach Textiles with a practical hands-on working ethos drawing in a free and energetic manner which has proved to be the key to creating innovative designs through an experimental approach. A constant process of searching for and discovering new inspiration in unexpected places is primarily the focus of my work.
