Collyhurst is a run-down and neglected area of North-Eastern Manchester, which currently lacks employment opportunities, social responsibilities and any form of connection to its abundant industrial heritage. With this in mind, ‘MANuscript’ seeks to provide a revitalised area with added job prospects, learning facilities and newer economic relationships with the city.
In order to achieve this incentive, the scheme focuses on reinventing one of the original and last successful industry’s to operate in Collyhurst; manual labour paper-making. The scheme additionally consists of two other programme types; a printing press and a community library, which are both dependent on the source of recycled paper from the mill.
