BA (Hons) Fine Art

Yvonne Weston

The idea of my work came while I was back in Hong Kong last summer holiday. I noticed that the noise and air pollution was really bad in contrast to Manchester, where I live now.

I use landscapes and cityscapes as a metaphor for the totality of life, the theory that ‘we are all under the same sky’ inspired my work. My painting uses images drawn from the everyday which I transform and change through a painterly and evocative language of expression. I create a more ambiguous and atmospheric, sometimes even dream likes scene. My work has been inspired by the environment and seasonal within me, from the windy autumn to the icy winter until the colourful spring.
