Intrigued by the colourful smuggling stories from the 18th century, I have explored notions of secrecy, concealment and mystery through wearable objects. Snippets from my research and uncanny quotes separate each collection- small containers, teabags and antique dolls have been cast, formed and manipulated to create engaging objects that provoke questions and reveal secrets. The project has allowed me to explore the context of jewellery unconventionally, creating fragile elements that with eventually perish leaving behind a memory and destroying evidence. A loose thread, dolls limb or slight hole can expose a hidden secret while more ambiguous forms may excite and unnerve.
