BA (Hons) Textiles

Alice Pollit

The initial inspiration for my body of work sprang from the rural landscape around my home in Yorkshire, from which I made drawings and took photographs of trees and field boundaries. I translated these images into my designs by refining them into compositions of blocks and lines. I have a passion for strong bright colours, and I love using them while I’m weaving. I am inspired by abstract paintings for their free movement of colour. I use a range of weft patterns but I mostly use Satin and Sateen structures, which are particularly effective for making the colours stand out.
