BA (Hons) Textile Design for Fashion

Lewis O'Connor

In my creative work I am inspired by almost everything I see and even the most apparently mundane and ordinary surroundings can give me a fresh approach to my work. I’m driven by the desire document a range of environments, locations and objects to broaden my understanding of all visual inspiration.

My final year project enabled me to explore these themes through the concept of Psychogeography, a visual analysis into personal journeys and memories and their documentation and mapping. From this I developed conventional print collections as well as more experimental illustration and animation work. A combination of abstract and figurative image-making, as well as digital and manual means of production are central to my practice.

Investigations into moving imagery throughout my final year have led to combination of animation and textile pattern, aiming to push the boundaries of how print design can be interpreted in a contemporary, digital format.
