BA (Hons) Three Dimensional Design

Malwina Lukasiewicz

My current work focuses on gravity, movement and fluidity, using this as a metaphor to explore human vulnerability and transience. While working on this project, I have been mainly inspired by water changing its molecular structure, from congealing to melting, dripping to flowing.
One moment, shaped as a beautiful icicle, the other melting unwittingly. Lampworking technique has not only given me a great field of possibilities to translate those qualities into my practice, but a newly discovered freedom of creating and making as well.

I have always been attracted to reflections and intrigued by beams of light. I feel that glass, because of its contradiction as both a solid and a liquid, as strong and yet fragile, serves as an ideal medium to convey the notion of fluidity. Moreover, as a pliable material glass cooperates well with my ambition as a maker.
