Chapel Street Data Centre

Chapel Street Data Centre is a physical representation of the digital world, a ‘point of presence’. The scheme brings technology and connectivity to Salford’s core, taking an existing Data Centre programme and integrating a social, networking centre to encourage analogue users to meet up face to face, hopefully allowing for local markets to form, alongside global.

The concentric form of the building allows for the data centre to be at the centre of all activities within. Building users are visible from each level, creating a ‘Physical Social Network’, where the digital data available, enhances social relation- ships and attempts to bridge the gap between the physical & digital worlds.

‘The city is what it is because our citizens are who they are’ Plato.
