Jennifer Mellish

I engage with the non- visual concept of learning and the way it changes our inner identities in time, to then translate this in the visual by projecting each moment onto the human form. Predominantly working with oil, I focus and unfocus on a chosen form in order to project this state of co existing between a fixed form and a more fluid, lucid being. In this respect the subject/person is liberated and in a state of epistemic ambivalence. The concept is carried out through the way I paint; balancing representational and abstract in a holistic marriage.
