Celebrating the long history of Industrial Revolution at Chapel Street, The Salford Industrial and Cultural Archive acts as a palimpsest in the city, an architecture built out of collection of disparate and overlapping stories from industrial past to present. The archive aims to revive and unify the forgotten heritages along Chapel Street with the introduction of coding, where the collected archival materials and records are given an individual code and stored digitally for long term storage in digital world and are accessible at all times.

Without being overshadowed by either Manchester or Salford Media City, the archive brings in a new fresh identity to the area. It also brings people together to educate and appreciate the history of Chapel Street. It is a place to communicate the values of past, negotiate the values of present and identify the important values in future.
