In my work I am exploring painting, producing an abstract sensory experience of the world through the language of painting. I use abstract forms to investigate tension within the work, which I then invite the viewer to unravel themselves. I work in a reactive way, often using one form as an instigator, which I use as a departure point to then organically evolve the painting. From this start, the work becomes a much more complex construction prompting questions of harmony, discord, tension and sensitivity. The relationship between objects and abstracted forms invites a sense of rhythm but I am especially interested in how the placement of dissident elements juxtaposed with the beautiful creates a duality to the work.
