Textiles in Practice
BA (Hons)

I am a surface designer, specialising in 3-Dimensional mixed media textiles.

As a designer I am interested in material transitions and take an in- depth approach to material exploration, working with and against their natural properties to create exciting and dynamic textiles surfaces.

Inspired by the patterns and structures found within my surroundings, I take a lively approach to drawing, expressively recording and translating these into sampling.

Adopting a hybrid approach to design, I mix technologies such as laser cutting and heat techniques with hand craftsmanship. I take a scientific approach to materials, methodically dissecting and exploring their properties to create a range of surfaces.

My surfaces are suitable for a broad range of contexts, predominantly fashion and interiors. This is something I aim to further develop through collaboration during my Masters at the Royal College of Art.
