Sit & Fish
“Architecture does not so much intrude on a landscape as it serves to explain it” (Steven Holl, 1995)
Inspired by an innovative local typology, “Sit & Fish” is a project born from its immediate context, yet introducing a unique and exciting activity to the wider area. The building incorporates a live-fishing restaurant with associated accommodation for the worker and the visitor. Through its situation, programme, and sheer novelty, the intervention brings life and variation into the faded Piccadilly Basin, reinstating the Rochdale Canal as an important artery of Manchester.
