Textiles in Practice
BA (Hons)

I create bold patterns for soft furnishings using a combination of digital print, screen print and embroidery. Developing patterns that display organic elements, such as shells, leaves, etc. with mechanical structures has been the inspiration for my collection.

Drawing plays an important role in my work and I have sourced my initial imagery from local museum exhibitions, taking note of shapes and textures. The ability to combine and contrast my drawings digitally emables me to create quirky print and embroidery designs.

I use placement embroidery to add detail to a print design. I find that the raised surface and vibrant colours of the thread can be used to create texture and depth.
