My paintings are concerned with liminal space, questioning the logic of the physical, virtual and imagined. I aim to challenge zones of demarcation interrupting the typical depiction of a boundary; slippage and softness is countered by the fixed and secure. By deconstructing photographs and found images of architecture I create large-scale spaces that engulf the viewer into an insecure, absurd otherworld. These spaces become edgelands, the unwanted, undeveloped and unimaginable space between the city and countryside, a place of mystery and beauty, free from context and judgment.
