Louise Giovanelli
I am primarily concerned with the visual and aesthetic energy of the painted surface. I love how painting operates as a continued dialogue between these faucets, functioning as a highly sophisticated system of expression. My work engages with perceptual aspects of the medium, attempting to foreground colour, form, movement and tension.
I am attempting to create charged environments - landscapes in flux.
I ask the viewer to slow down - in contrast to the current climate of image proliferation. I see painting as a chance to capitalise on paints physical and pliable nature.
To use paint as a conduit for the transmission of ideas is to carry with it an inherent evocation to history. It is loaded, charged with meaning.
