Exploring Material and Structure has driven my practice throughout my final year, expanding my knowledge of technical processes and the potential of what a material could be. With an interest in the relationship between material and designer, I approach my work through a combination of new and old processes, exploring how they can transform a material.
Changing a materials appearance and tactility, laser cutting and different printing techniques have allowed me to create a series of interesting surfaces and intricate folded forms from industrial felt.
Excited by the potential materials of the future, I aim throughout my work to consider how the processes I use influence the next. Working with different materials and new processes creates a natural progression for my work and one I am continuing with next year on the MA Material Futures course at Central Saint Martins.
