The Legger's Arms

Piccadilly Basin has a rich industrial heritage but, as the wharves have faded and the canal is in little use, much of this memory has been lost. I wished to regain some of this whilst also questioning the idea of the “third place” missing on the site; where the first is home and the second is work. I therefore researched the programme of pubs - just such a social space and a typical feature alongside industrial canals. To regain a hint of industrial memory this programme also includes an independent microbrewery to both serve the pub and engage the public in industrial processes.
