The Handcrafts Centre

The Handcrafts centre aims to create an interaction with the public and a sense of neighbourhood within the Northern Quarters. It provides a platform for residents and locals to attend workshops, learn unique handmade crafts, buy items from the shop, and have a space to relax in the café.

The idea is generated from cultural observations of Turkish women meeting in apartments, creating intricate handmade pieces, learning new skills off each other and selling these items within their small circle. This way apartment living creates a close knitted community which then opens to the public in collaborative workshops and reaches a wider audience.
