This project aims to respond to the wider ecology of Manchester's engineering knowledge economy. Intertwined with Manchester Airport's transport interchange, an exhibition space displaying the past, present and future of Manchester's rich industrial & engineering landscape provides a nexus point that crosses the paths of hi tec employers from the enterprise zone, with students from the proposed engineering campus.

I drew inspiration from the theories of Stan Allen on Field Conditions, Annie Shaw's work on textiles & architecture and the economic possibilities of J Kasarda's 'Aerotropolis' scheme. Particular focus was expressed on the environmental considerations; the prismatic light funnels, wind towers and ability to adapt on an economically volatile site.
