Textiles in Practice
BA(Hons)

The complexities of pattern, colour and optical illusion have provided inspiration for the basis of my most recent collections of woven textiles for the top end of the interiors market.

Inspired by the ‘Op Art ‘ movement, and in particular the work of British painter Bridget Riley, has added breadth and depth to my research as I have explored and developed various complex geometric pattern combinations in the pursuit of movement.

Throughout this unit I have invested a great deal of time into mastering interchangeable pattern within double-cloth weaving, as well as experimenting with the properties of woollen yarns; in particular merino wool and how this responds through the various finishing processes that have been employed.

My future aspirations include gaining valuable experience in the woven interiors industry and finding employment in the area that I greatly enjoy.
