Textiles in Practice

Inspired by the shapes and structures found in industrial machinery, mechanics and architecture, I have explored a range of processes in order to make a series of prototype 3D interactive wall panels. I am interested in creating dynamic pieces that have the potential to become ever-changing compositions as the audience is invited to interact with them.

I work with recycled and industrial materials, such as wood, foam and cork, layering up laser cut shapes to make new compositions that can be repeatedly changed. The collection is also heavily inspired by my experience of embroidery: I wrap and tie threads around pegs, adding pattern and detail to my compositions through the use of a textile line.

I aspire to be a freelance artist after graduating, creating one-off and bespoke mixed-media artwork, working collaboratively and making commissioned pieces.
