Textiles in Practice

Inspired by how subjective perception of shared urban spaces differs from person to person, I create knitted fabrics suitable for a range of contexts, particularly womenswear.

I spend a lot of time exploring colour through drawing and painting, which informs hand dying of yarns and knitted samples. The results are often quite unpredictable, and the juxtaposition of this with the order and structure of knit is what defines my work.

During the last year of my degree I have developed a strong interest in the possibilities of garments which can be worn in different ways, performing multiple functions to suit the wearer. My design practice will continue to focus on suggesting more sustainable alternatives to today's fast fashion culture whilst embracing fabrics as a vehicle for self expression.
