Fine Art
BA(Hons)

Religion has a divine authority, presenting systems of belief that unite some whilst dividing or excluding others. My work addresses the impact of religion by making comparisons between the three main monotheistic faiths; Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

My work aims to show an illegibility by comparing and layering language used in scriptures from all three faiths that centers on the role of women. By using carefully selected shapes such as cubes and circles and materials such as blood, wax and ash, my work explores the rich symbolic meaning as well as gender connotations that are accociated to them. This therefore highlights our own connection to religion, as well as commenting on the current political climate.
