Textiles in Practice

I am a textile designer who is passionate about new contemporary design, challenging the simplicity and the ordinary of the everyday. For my final collection I have communicated the perception of encapsulation, translating this through the idea that the garment is a container for the body.

Conducting research into a variety of art and design disciplines has led me to create work that has influences derived from Brutalist architecture, Scandinavian functionalism to luxurious and alternative fashion. Working within a fashion context has allowed me to investigate where I would locate my work within the industry, for the high-end ready-to-wear market. I hope to complete an MA course in textiles at the Royal College and gain valuable experience within the textiles industry in order to develop my skills as a practitioner. I aspire to develop an individual identity as a designer, focusing on fashion and trend forecasting.
