Three Dimensional Design
BA(Hons)

I am a material led maker focusing on throwing as a traditional process within ceramics. I aim to translate aspects of ancient pottery into a contemporary ceramic context.

This body of work takes inspiration from both ancient Greek and Egyptian vessel forms to create bottles and vases that are contemporized by then cutting sections away to create contrasting angles to the flowing forms. The surface of the vessels again references the historic through the turquoise glaze mimicking Egyptian faience ware and the graphic red symbols taken from Naqada II period vessels.
