My practice is based upon the translation of experience (primarily the negative; trauma, conflict, corruption, loss) into form. The methods I most readily use to achieve this are metaphor and symbolism. Metaphor brings the mind of the viewer into a place where ideas that could once be seen as nonsensical are made easy to comprehend. It enables me to make one remark by making another, sometimes in a contradictory or paradoxical manner. This helps to find the quickest and most familiar path to the viewers understanding of the message being conveyed.

I’m interested in making objects and spaces that literally bring the viewer in to the same psychological space I have inhabited in the making process. The same psychological places that the experiences I am manifesting into form occupy.
