Textiles in Practice

Inspired by natural and floral imagery I draw and paint in a colourful and expressive style which directly informs my printed and embroidered textiles. I use digital print translate the textures and details of paint into cloth, which I then embroider using the ‘Irish’ singer and the Cornely machines. The fluidity of these unique machines compliments and enhances my bold and expressive way of working. I also use the Handi-Quilter to free machine quilt to add texture and depth on my embroidered quilts. I am a versatile designer and my textiles can be applied to bedding, furniture, quilts and other interior products as well as scarves. I also create illustrative surface patterns for paper based outcomes. I intend to work for a design company where my painterly and colourful style can be realized through paper or fabric and stitch.
