This work stemmed through re-imagining the life of a lady called Betty. Throughout this project Betty’s memories and stories, of the places connected to her, became a tool for documentation.
Through the discovery of new places, it allowed me to reinterpret Betty’s life from a new perspective, depicting elements of absence and presence of a life existing throughout a period of time. The transition between my own photographs and Betty’s, forms a contemplative narrative between the past and present. It allows for us to consider how we make and retain our own sense of place, with our thoughts and memories, and how overtime they come to hold meaning.
