I am aesthetic and function driven designer – maker with the keen interest in additive manufacturing processes. The focus of my practice is lighting created with the use of combined traditional and modern ways of making, skills and knowledge that take advantages of their joined potential.
The motivation behind the “Tess” collection was investigating new ways of mould making process. Most of the designing process of the light was completed using 3D software but instead of obtaining a master, I have created and 3D printed a piece from which plaster moulds were produced. Following this stage, each of the pieces was individually slip casted in the traditional fashion and hand finished. The hand-blown glass dome encapsulates the ceramic shape like a shell, enhances its qualities and brings together traditional and contemporary techniques and materials.
