Kerry Anne Thompson
As a woven textile designer I have become preoccupied with the translation of pattern into tactile hand woven fabrics. Initial research explored the multi-sensory environments created for adults with disabilities; with the sense of touch being the main aspect of focus I transferred these qualities into fabrics that have relief and depth of surface.
Working within a fashion context and with a focus towards the sportswear market has made me consider the potential of my fabrics as they changed and develop into new shapes and sizes which are determined by the structures and yarns employed in the sampling undertaken.
My future intention is to work in the textile industry.
