I am a textile designer specialising in knit for fashion with an experimental approach, driven by yarn and colour qualities. Innovative approaches to materials and geometric shapes are key concepts within my practice. Exaggerating the minimal and pushing the contemporary creates an unusual twist on traditional methods. Allowing knitwear to be a trans-seasonal trend through manipulating materials to produce unique outcomes.
My final collection Sandyhill explores the concept urban living. My daily commute through the fast pace city life has developed a body of work inspired by Manchester’s energy, scale within architecture and social housing. Focusing sampling towards contrasting materials and textures, bold colours and print techniques. Utilising both hand and machine techniques have produced five key looks for womenswear. I hope to extend my learning experience with valuable placements to expand and develop my existing skills and designs, alongside the opportunity to collaborate with textile and fashion related disciplines.
