As a Printed Textiles Designer, I create work for both furnishing fabrics and fashion.
My natural surroundings combined with my love for travel has inspired my initial ideas for my final collections. I initially undertake primary research which involves drawing, photography and mark making in response to visiting new and exciting places, taking the time to seek out the overlooked in our natural environment. My style of painting is naïve and playful, this combined with an energetic bold use of colour has informed the development of my designs. Research into contemporary trends also further informs my practice.
My final collection is titled ‘Naïve Flora’. It is fun and abstract yet sophisticated and versatile enough to work appropriately for a range of products and contexts.
I have experimented with a range of different styles and approaches during this project and within my final year at university to produce a broad portfolio.
My future intentions are to work as a versatile printed textiles designer within the interior or fashion sectors.
