Joel Green

My paintings are heavily inspired by drag queens and drag culture today, I spent time learning their techniques used to transform themselves. 

In this project I used myself as the subject and studied each step of my own transformation using heavy makeup and a wig, I really wanted to show the art-form side of drag and less about it just being a performance. I wanted to help viewers realize that it is less about dressing up, and more about expressing, decorating and celebrating yourself in a creative way.
