Kate Robinson

Fine Art

Kate Robinson’s practice explores the relationship between the real and virtual, while glancing at the digital world from a female perspective. Through the creation of her digital self, Robinson attempts to consider the progression of her ‘online’ and ‘offline’ identity, as well as that of physical and virtual objects. The exaggeration of size and the materiality of the digital objects creates almost surrealist compositions in the digital realm, while this is recreated physically through 3D scanning and 3D printing. The use of CGI characters and stereotypically female objects is an attempt to challenge the representation of the clichéd hysteric female bot which is presented in video games and in mainstream online culture.
