Oley is an artist who works with Print and Video medium, she uses different textures of fabric to incorporate with her screen-prints. She bases her work on the idea of mass media, hyper-reality and manipulation. Responding to the way the news uses television encoding and decoding language to selectively report certain events.

Using appropriation of news imagery Oley challenges and responds to the repetition of world events over the years through producing multiple layers of prints and Protest Banners that mirror images from the past against present day events; in order to comment on the lack of change in the way the media portray events.
