Textiles in Practice

As an Architectural Textile Designer, specialising in mixed media, I investigate the relationship between nature and the constructed environment, combining the natural and synthetic materials that make up these worlds.

Inspiration comes from my observation of time and place, particularly locations where beauty goes largely unnoticed.  For ‘Living Room’ it originates in the streets of Manchester and draws on the way in which nature encroaches on the urban landscape.

The collection is designed for home interiors and seeks to bring the living world into the domestic habitat where the surfaces of hand crafted jesmonite, concrete or resin forms are literally inhabited by natural materials.

I aspire to work within the design industry, continuing to give ‘an environmental edge to contemporary design.’
