Textiles in Practice

My work mainly relates to contemporary social movements and over the course of this project I have predominately focused on using textiles in order to create eye catching statements. My main body of inspiration has come from banners, placards and posters from protests and marches, with particular attention given to the global 'Youth Strikes for Climate'.

All of my fabric pieces have been created out of recycled or discarded textiles, with all the denim cut from second hand jeans. Sustainability is incredibly important to me as not just a message, but a key factor in choosing materials too.

In my practice I'm very open to working in a variety of contexts including in gallery spaces, holding workshops with activist groups and getting involved with museums or charities. Post-graduation I plan to continue improving my artistic practice while working with various groups to expand my skills and network.
