The borders of Manchester are rife with social issues and people whom feel isolated from the hustle and bustle of the inner city. Josh is a young, charming yet flawed ex prisoner with the desire for a productive life post release. He feels compelled to build bridges with the family he has torn apart through his years of criminality especially his devoted sister Karen. Karen is a woman in her mid-30’s suffering from depression and in a relationship with her violent and manipulative partner Ian. Ian controls every inch of Karen’s existence, which has gradually diminished Karen’s mental health. After a brief stint of homelessness, Josh reconnects with his uncle Ian a working class blue-collar man who alerts Josh to the life Karen finds herself trapped within. Due to past loyalties, Josh feels obligated to attempt to save her from this life, but at what cost?.
