Emily Woods

Inspired by the natural world, my wallpaper and scarf designs express a passion for drawing and appreciation for contemporary fine art. This body of work, exploring tropical flora and fauna, is inspired by our fascination with the exotic.

Developing my handwriting along with a variety of printing techniques over the course of my time at Manchester School of Art, I have become fluent and confident in my specialist area. Interested in the combination of controlled and un-controlled drawing techniques, my designs explore the combination of structured pattern with fluid organic forms. In using a variety of medias, I demonstrate an experimental approach to drawing, striving to produce unique, contemporary designs suitable for a range of contexts.

Taking an open-minded approach to design, I producing surface patterns with the potential to be applied to both fashion and interior outcomes. My designs are produced using predominantly digital methods, with the intent to transfer the painterly qualities within my drawings into diverse designs.
