Lauren Taylor

“I have always been interested in social issues, specifically gender orientated ones. I want people to recognise and relate to my jewellery...I want to celebrate the ordinary”

Inspired by domestic, utilitarian objects and mechanisms, Lauren Taylor explores practical, portable objects and mechanisms to influence her designs. The story behind her work is based on traditional and modern female roles, and how expectations of how women should look and behave relate to reality. For centuries, women have had to be both domestically practical and aesthetically beautiful. Lauren likes to make playful relationships between these everyday objects, and aspects of women’s lives.
