Throughout my degree, I have developed my design & technical skills within the area of woven textiles. My research is commonly based upon my everyday surroundings, finding hints of pattern wherever I can & translating them into my pieces.
Creating digital drawings is a vital part of my development process, meaning that I often design with the potential for print as well as woven pieces. I love to explore repeat pattern, using the Scotweave program to design & develop larger, more complex patterns. Throughout my university experience I have designed pieces for fashion, accessories & interiors, with my most recent project also being focused towards the interiors market.
This project focuses on ornate & decorative style patterns that can be found in wrought iron work, vintage wallpapers & that are inspired by plants & flowers. It incorporates a mixture of patterns found within tough metal work & the softer colours that are seen in springtime gardens.
