Textiles in Practice

Originally inspired by Christian Lacroix’s biography 'Christian Lacroix and The Tale of Sleeping Beauty’, my work is a reimagining of the classic fairytale‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ authored by the famous children’s storybook writer Enid Blyton. As a textile designer my aim is to create fun, playful yet sophisticated prints that are intended for both womens wear and home interiors. I combine both digital and hand-making techniques, such as foiling, which allow me to take an experimental approach to textile surface design. Future aspirations include realising opportunities that allow me to practice within the field of printed textile design producing work for both a fashion and home interiors context.
