The Share Shed is a place where people learn about cultural appreciation through social innovation as a means of transforming the community. The location is an essential part of the project as it was important for the project to be based in Hulme. After researching community intervention as a social driver for innovation, I understand how design can be used to empower the community.
My manifesto stems from the well-known proverb,
‘It takes a whole village to raise a child.’
It is the notion that the wellbeing of an individual is a communal effort. My designs embody this philosophy by encouraging cultural intersection through creativity and collaboration. Ultimately, each space I have designed is a means of intersection, support and opportunity.
