Textiles in Practice

I am a printed textiles designer creating designs specifically for interior spaces for the commercial market. In my ‘Imperfect Glamour’ collection my aim was to create a collection of definition and textural wallcoverings inspired by the concept of ‘Wabi- Sabi’ interpreted as ‘finding beauty in the imperfect, impermanent and incomplete’. The Collection includes fabrics for upholstery and soft furnishings that complement the wallcoverings. In my practice, I am particularly interested in combining processes, creating designs made up of both digital and handcrafted elements. The idea of Natural processes found in nature such as the movement of water and weathering has influenced the direction of my design work.  My aim after graduation is to continue to build my portfolio and to continue to learn and develop my skills as a designer by undertaking work experience opportunities.
