Textiles in Practice

I am a woven textile designer specialising in fabrics for interiors. Cultural influences and the surrounding environment have had a major influence on my research with a particular focus on colour theory and the tactility of yarn.

Much of my inspiration has been derived from the welsh landscape on the Island of Anglesey and the traditional techniques of welsh blanket weaving. A recent visit to the Trefriw mill on Anglesey has helped to enrich this research.

Creating unique and luxurious fabrics has resulted from experimentation with techniques and yarn qualities such as lamb’s wool and cotton chenille yarns. Recent collections include a range of contemporary reversible fabrics capturing a sense of space, whilst still retaining traditional patterning.

After graduation, I will be continuing my education by completing a PGCE alongside continuing with my practice as a woven textiles designer.
