Textiles in Practice

As a print designer, my work is frequently inspired by Celtic mythology, the Renaissance period, and European architecture. My style focuses predominantly on using intricate drawings that are embellished with bold splashes of colour. Final designs are produced by applying digital editing software to manipulate and enhance hand drawn imagery to create bold prints.

Grotesque Ornament, the title of my final collection, explores renaissance paintings and grotesque ornaments. The final collection includes original drawings, screen printed designs, cushions and digitally printed wallpaper.

In the future, I hope to develop my own practice by establishing my own company, working as a designer/maker within the surface pattern industry, selling items for interiors such as cushions and wallpapers, and to develop skills in upholstery to aid my ambitions.
